Read-along with Julia Donaldson

Listening alongside reading can help improve comprehension, punctuation, fluency and vocabulary, especially for children and second-language learners. Enjoy read-along sessions with these modern classics on Yoto, where an audible 'ding' will tell you when to turn the chapter.

Did you know that most of the stories in our library are suitable for listening and reading along? Even without the read-along sound between chapters (currently only available with Julia Donaldson titles), you can still easily follow along with our unabridged story titles, for example: Roald Dahl, Eric Carle, E.B. White and more. Click here to explore our story titles.

If you're unsure whether a title is suitable for reading and listening, send us a message on social media and we'll get back to you with an answer!

A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood.
A fox saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.

The Gruffalo is a worldwide phenomenon and modern classic. Is there really no such thing as a Gruffalo? Listen, read-along, and find out! And in the much-loved sequel to The Gruffalo, will the Gruffalo's child meet the Big Bad Mouse?

The Gruffalo said that no gruffalo should ever set foot in the deep dark wood.

But one wild and windy night the Gruffalo's child disobeys her father's warnings and ventures out into the snow. After all, the Big Bad Mouse doesn't really exist...does he? Both titles are perfect for listening and reading along to at home, in the car, at bedtime - or any time at all.

Zog is the keenest dragon in school. He's also the most accident-prone; flying into trees and even setting his own wing on fire. Luckily, a mysterious little girl always comes by and patches up his bumps and bruises. But will she be able to help Zog with his toughest test: capturing a princess?

All Zog wants is to earn a gold star, but his clumsiness always gets in the way. In this charming story about perseverance, we learn that sometimes the best reward is yet to come.

Then, in the fabulously original sequel to the best selling Zog, we meet the Flying Doctors: Princess Pearl, Sir Gadabout, and, of course, their trusty ‘air ambulance’, Zog the dragon.

Don't forget, you can use Make Your Own cards to record yourself or another person (whether that be a friend or family member) reading a story aloud, which you can then play over the top of story time while reading a paperback book.

What are Make Your Own cards?
These 'blank' cards offer endless opportunities for you and your little ones to get creative. You can store up to 100 tracks/500MB of audio content on each Make Your Own card, and edit them as many times as you like. Once you're happy with your recordings, you can decorate your Make Your Own cards with stickers, drawings and messages so you know what's what and who's who. Then you can play them whenever you like or even send them to friends and family members to tap on their phones or listen to on their own Yoto Players.

And now, when you add others to your Yoto Family Account, they'll be able to record their own stories directly into the app and have them appear on your phone to link to your Make Your Own cards!
