Audio Content and AI
At Yoto, human creativity is at the heart of everything we do. From the thousands of audiobooks and albums in our catalogue – created by the world’s best-loved authors and artists – to our award-winning Yoto Originals, we’ve invested millions in human-made content because that’s what makes Yoto special, and will continue to do so as we grow.
We’re also proud to innovate and push the boundaries of what audio can do. It’s our mission to create products and experiences that genuinely delight families and add real value to everyday life.
We believe technology should serve creativity, not replace it, and so we’re committed to using AI in content creation only where it clearly improves the experience or enables something we couldn’t otherwise do.
Technology is moving fast. We have a responsibility to keep up, but never at the expense of quality or trust.
Here are our guiding principles:
1. Human-Made by Design
We will not use AI as a substitute for creative talent. AI may assist in the creative process – for example speeding up post-production, or supporting early stage script drafting – but the editorial decisions, creative direction and final approval always rest with our talented team.
2. Use AI Where it Adds Value
Where AI meaningfully increases access – for example adapting audio into new languages, through new accessibility features or personalised content experiences – we will consider its use carefully. If it does not improve the experience, we will not use it.
3. Give Families Control, Clarity and Choice
We recognise that families have different views on AI, so we commit to being transparent about its use in the making of any of our content, giving you complete control of what you listen to, including the ability to filter out content made using AI if you choose. If AI is used to deliver dynamic experiences, or used in scripting of narration, we will state it clearly and explain how. No euphemisms. No ambiguity.
AI is evolving, and so are we. We’ll continue to review our approach as the technology develops, and will provide updates here.
