Big Bible Stories for Little Hearts

Creator Profiles

We love Jesus’ invitation: “Let the little children come to me!” That’s why we created a collection of Bible stories filled with wonder and delight kids will ask to hear again and again.

Creator Q&A

Tell us about yourself

As sisters-in-law with 5 young kids between us, we’re always texting each other to find a great parenting podcast, an easy dinner recipe, or the best wide leg jeans. One thing we couldn’t find? An audio Bible storybook that captured our kids’ imaginations. So we set out to create one! Chrissy poured her years as a lit major, English teacher, and Sunday school teacher into the words. Joy brought her experience as a songwriter, worship leader, and recording artist into the studio to narrate and produce the audio. We pray listening to these stories brings your family as much joy as creating them has brought us! Chrissy writes from her home in south Florida, where she lives with her husband and 3 daughters. Joy records from her studio in Tennessee, where she lives with her husband and 2 sons.

What inspired you to make this title(s)?

We believe that the story of Scripture is the greatest story ever told, and that as parents, we get the gift (and challenge) of sharing it with our children. All 5 of our kids are energetic and curious, so they were the perfect test audience: if we could retell Bible stories in a way that captured their attention, we knew other kids would love listening too! We started with the story of creation–Chrissy wrote and Joy recorded, adding sound effects and music. When we played it for our kids, they didn’t move a muscle, and when the story ended, they wanted to hear more! We knew we had to keep going and work our way from Genesis all the way to Revelation.

"We hope these stories will spark spiritual conversations and lead to meaningful discussions between kids and parents!"

Who do you imagine listening to your audio?

We imagine kids listening to these stories during meals or snacktime, as the soundtrack to car rides and coloring sessions, during times of independent play, or as part of a bedtime routine. We hope these stories will spark spiritual conversations and lead to meaningful discussions between kids and parents!

Is there anything different about making audio for Yoto?

Yoto, to us, represents independence: kids select the card, navigate to their favorite track, and listen for as long (or as little) as they want. As we created these cards, we knew kids could pull that card out at any time, so we intentionally filled each moment with meaningful words, lively sound effects, and engaging music. When we hear that kids choose to listen to Big Bible Stories over and over again, we take it as a huge compliment!

What’s next?

We can’t write and record fast enough for all of the ideas we have! We’re currently working on Yoto card content for Easter, the Fruits of the Spirit, biographies of Bible characters, and more! Creator FAQs

    Who are the Creators?

Our Creators are independent makers of music and spoken word content for children and families. Some have established audiences in other places, while others are beginning their audio publishing journey with Yoto. We put out a public call to join this initiative at the start of 2024.

Each of our creators have their own Creator Profiles where you can read more about them and their cards. Just click on their name on their card store page to find out more.

How can I become a Creator?

If you are just starting out, you might first choose to share your digital content for free in the Open Mic section of our community site Yoto Space, where you can start building an audience and get feedback from friendly enthusiasts.

Learn how to make a great Yoto Card by reading our Yoto Creator Guidelines. Learn about what makes the Yoto format unique, and how to create a really engaging and successful title that children will love.

If you're ready to start selling your content on Yoto, you can register your interest.

Can I learn more about Creator content before purchasing?

Yes, each card has an extended audio preview so you can listen to a representative sample before making a purchase. You can also read more about a card's creator by clicking on their name on the card page.

How is this different from the free audio on Yoto Space?

Open Mic on Yoto Space is where we nurture those creators who may be just starting out or wanting to experiment with a new title. It's a friendly community where they have space to share content for free, build an audience and get feedback. We are delighted to see several creators make the leap from there to become Creators on the Yoto Store, where they can now monetise their work.

What do I do if I don't like a card that I've purchased?

If it simply isn't to your taste, purchases are covered by our usual returns policy. If you believe a title breaks our Creators Content Guidelines, please report it.

Are more Creators cards being added to the collection?

Yes, more titles and more creators will be added over the coming months.
