Creator Q&A

Tell us about yourself

I’m Cynthia Arscott, mother of two boys from Canada and founder of Goldminds, a sleep story app created just for kids. When I first became a parent, bedtime often felt endless and I couldn’t find anything that truly helped my son unwind and drift off to sleep. I began writing my own stories that were engaging enough to capture his imagination while also weaving in mindfulness techniques to help him relax and fall asleep. What started as a solution for my own family has now grown into stories enjoyed by thousands of families around the world!

What inspired you to make this title(s)?

At Goldminds, our sleep stories are designed to calm children at night while quietly teaching resilience. Parents asked us for stories to help kids understand their emotions, so we created a series that shows feelings are normal and can be managed through simple tools like deep breathing, mantras, and visualization. Each story blends mindfulness with imaginative adventures, inviting kids to practice confidence and problem-solving in a safe space while learning relaxation skills that help them sleep soundly and face their days with more calm.

"My goal is simple: to give families a screen-free anchor at bedtime, a ritual that helps kids drift to sleep while quietly building the calm and resilience they’ll carry with them long after the night ends."

Who do you imagine listening to your audio?

I imagine families at the end of a long day pressing play as the children curl up in bed, and the whole house slowly settling into calm. The stories are written for children under 10, but many caregivers tell me they listen too and find them just as soothing. My goal is simple: to give families a screen-free anchor at bedtime, a ritual that helps kids drift to sleep while quietly building the calm and resilience they’ll carry with them long after the night ends.

Is there anything different about making audio for Yoto?

Yoto is a beloved tool in our home, and I appreciate how it gives children control over their listening in such a safe, tactile way. Creating audio for Yoto feels special because we share the same values—offering children enriching, meaningful content that supports their growth and imagination!
