Creator Q&A
Tell us about yourself
Gus Plus Us was created by Nick and Christina Caster, a couple originally from California who now call Texas home. Our story began with music, when Christina’s worship band needed a keyboard player. Music has always been a huge part of our lives. Christina spent her childhood performing in musical theater, while Nick pursued his passion for music and film. After getting married, we shared a dream of creating something special together. We now have two kids that Christina homeschools, while Nick runs a production company called Caster Studios.
What inspired you to make this title(s)?
The inspiration for Gus Plus Us came from our deep love for music, storytelling, and film with the desire to create a show that the entire family could enjoy together.
As a homeschool mom, Christina wanted the show to speak to children’s natural curiosity while respecting their intelligence. She envisioned a show that encourages wonder and imagination, while remaining simple and heartfelt. Gus Plus Us became a way to share important life lessons and values in a fun, engaging way for kids.

Who do you imagine listening to your audio?
Gus Plus Us is a show filled with music that is truly for all ages. Kids, parents, and even grandparents can find something to connect with in our songs. At its core, Gus Plus Us celebrates family time. Whether listening at home, in the car, or on a family trip, we hope families experience joy, laughter, and meaningful conversations inspired by the lyrics. As Christina says, “This is a show made by a family for families. I really think we made something special and I hope it brings families joy when they watch it.”
Is there anything different about making audio for Yoto?
Yoto is the perfect fit for our vision because we’ve always believed in non-screen activities, especially for our own kids.
When Yoto launched in the U.S., it was quickly recommended by a friend, and we fell in love with it. As a homeschool family, we use it often to entertain and educate our children.
What we love most about Yoto is that it provides a screen-free, imagination-filled experience for kids, and we are so excited to join the community. Yoto feels like a natural extension of what we already do–crafting stories that foster creativity, curiosity, and joy.
What’s next?
As the Gus Plus Us universe continues to grow, we have big plans to expand our Yoto collection. We’re working on new stories, songs, and even a few surprises that we’re excited to share with families soon. Gus Plus Us is an evolving world, and we can’t wait to keep bringing new adventures to Yoto listeners.
New to Yoto?
Our carefully connected speakers put kids in control of their listening, learning and play. No cameras. No microphones. No ads.

Who are the Creators?
Our Creators are independent makers of music and spoken word content for children and families. Some have established audiences in other places, while others are beginning their audio publishing journey with Yoto. We put out a public call to join this initiative at the start of 2024.
Each of our creators have their own Creator Profiles where you can read more about them and their cards. Just click on their name on their card store page to find out more.

Can I learn more about Creator content before purchasing?
Yes, each card has an extended audio preview so you can listen to a representative sample before making a purchase. You can also read more about a card's creator by clicking on their name on the card page.
How is this different from the free audio on Yoto Space?
Open Mic on Yoto Space is where we nurture those creators who may be just starting out or wanting to experiment with a new title. It's a friendly community where they have space to share content for free, build an audience and get feedback. We are delighted to see several creators make the leap from there to become Creators on the Yoto Store, where they can now monetise their work.
What do I do if I don't like a card that I've purchased?
If it simply isn't to your taste, purchases are covered by our usual returns policy. If you believe a title breaks our Creators Content Guidelines, please report it.
Are more Creators cards being added to the collection?
Yes, more titles and more creators will be added over the coming months.
