Creator Q&A

Tell us about yourself

Hi Everyone! I'm Andrew, the founder of TumbleTales Studios. We make interactive audio adventures for kids that encourage imagination and physical activity. My wife and I are the proud parents of an amazing and lively daughter and as of writing this our family is expecting a son in a few short months! We live in the Seattle area with our dog named Ellie, who is as hungry for adventure as our daughter.

I have spent my life obsessed with creating wholesome, immersive experiences for myself and my loved ones. As a kid, I used to make custom playlists and sync multiple mp3 players so my friends and I could listen to movie soundtracks together while we’d go exploring. As I grew up, I also grew to love hosting game nights, scavenger hunts and other events for friends with wacky activities that brought people together and encouraged fun and real-life connection.

Once I became a dad, the logical next step was taking that passion and making something special for my daughter. After I made a few adventure stories for her, and got some really positive feedback from other parents, I decided to share TumbleTales with the world! It’s been such a fun experience, and I’m really excited to see what amazing things we can create for families. You can also find more info about the show and reach out to us directly at TumbleTales.org.

What inspired you to make this title(s)?

After many rainy Seattle Sunday afternoons, we were searching for some more screen-free activities for our daughter. We couldn't quite find that exact fit that was wholesome, constructive, and - most importantly - super fun! So I decided to make the activities that I wanted my daughter to have!

I founded TumbleTales Studios and we made our first show, TumbleTales! Now kids everywhere can explore an ancient forest, sneak around on a secret agent mission, or float through space – right in their own living room! We hope that the show can give families a high-quality activity for their little ones and inspire a sense of adventure in all our listeners.

Who do you imagine listening to your audio?

TumbleTales is intended for kids 2-8 and their grownups. We’ve gotten amazing feedback from our listeners of videos of families going on adventures together and seeing those memories being created in real-time is the best part of making the show. Our hope is that TumbleTales adventures spark a lifelong love for creativity and childlike wonder in our listeners.

Is there anything different about making audio for Yoto?

Luckily for us, Yoto is the perfect platform for our show! Yoto has created an amazing community of conscientious parents who are looking for very high-quality content for their families – and that is exactly what we’re hoping to create with TumbleTales.

Because it’s such a great match, we’re able to put our authentic selves out in our episodes and can really connect with our listeners. We are so proud to be included among the other great titles on this platform.

What’s next?

We have so many aspirations at TumbleTales Studios for how we can make more amazing content for kids. Celebrity cameos, long-form or chapter-based adventures, expanding to a library of other shows with other wacky characters…. We’re so excited to be on this journey with our listeners! Check out our Instagram @TumbleTalesStudios or our website TumbleTales.org to be up-to-date on the newest adventures. See you there!

Creator FAQs

    Who are the Creators?

Our Creators are independent makers of music and spoken word content for children and families. Some have established audiences in other places, while others are beginning their audio publishing journey with Yoto. We put out a public call to join this initiative at the start of 2024.

Each of our creators have their own Creator Profiles where you can read more about them and their cards. Just click on their name on their card store page to find out more.

How can I become a Creator?

If you are just starting out, you might first choose to share your digital content for free in the Open Mic section of our community site Yoto Space, where you can start building an audience and get feedback from friendly enthusiasts.

Learn how to make a great Yoto Card by reading our Yoto Creator Guidelines. Learn about what makes the Yoto format unique, and how to create a really engaging and successful title that children will love.

If you're ready to start selling your content on Yoto, you can register your interest.

Can I learn more about Creator content before purchasing?

Yes, each card has an extended audio preview so you can listen to a representative sample before making a purchase. You can also read more about a card's creator by clicking on their name on the card page.

How is this different from the free audio on Yoto Space?

Open Mic on Yoto Space is where we nurture those creators who may be just starting out or wanting to experiment with a new title. It's a friendly community where they have space to share content for free, build an audience and get feedback. We are delighted to see several creators make the leap from there to become Creators on the Yoto Store, where they can now monetise their work.

What do I do if I don't like a card that I've purchased?

If it simply isn't to your taste, purchases are covered by our usual returns policy. If you believe a title breaks our Creators Content Guidelines, please report it.

Are more Creators cards being added to the collection?

Yes, more titles and more creators will be added over the coming months.
